The Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan (PAS) is a non-profit membership-based association that represents pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies in Saskatchewan. 

PAS symbolizes professionalism, accountability and stewardship while advocating for and advancing the pharmacy profession.

PAS is governed by an elected Board of Directors who provide the Association with strategic oversight and advice.

In addition, many pharmacists from across the province volunteer on committees to assist with the activities of the Association, including planning annual conferences and development of pharmacist service programming and remuneration. 

How PAS Came To Be

The Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan, formerly The Pharmacists Association of Saskatchewan, has been independently advocating for the pharmacy profession since 2001.

PAS evolved out of the need for separate united representation of pharmacists and pharmacies for economic negotiations and developments of the profession within Saskatchewan, independent from the provincial regulator. 

Until the mid-1990s, the provincial regulator, the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals (SCPP), then known as Saskatchewan Pharmacists Association, also advocated for pharmacies and pharmacy professionals. However, the need to separate the two roles was identified shortly after and an economic task force was formed under the Saskatchewan Pharmacists Association umbrella.

The Representative Board of Saskatchewan Pharmacists was formed in 1998. It was a semi-independent organization that was not yet autonomous from the provincial regulator, sharing the same building, human resources and other infrastructure.

Complete separation came in 2001, and the Representative Board of Saskatchewan Pharmacists moved into its own office in Regina. The name was then changed to the Pharmacists Association of Saskatchewan in 2007 and was rebranded to the Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan on May 14, 2015. To this day, PAS continues to advocate for pharmacists, pharmacies and now pharmacy technicians.
