Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) and PAS
Stakeholder collaboration was identified as a main priority in PAS's Strategic Plan. We value inclusiveness and collaborative solutions within pharmacy practice and make every attempt to work with other organizations to enhance the health system and better serve our members.
PAS is pleased to be an Organizational Member of the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) and to share new member benefits with you as a result.
In June 2014 CPhA adopted a new governance and membership model that gives pharmacy a stronger pan-Canadian advocacy voice and the ability to respond quickly to changes affecting our profession and the health care system. All 10 provincial pharmacy advocacy associations, plus the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC) and the Canadian Society of Pharmacy Students and Interns (CAPSI) now belong to CPhA, and all members of those associations are CPhA Associates. The CPhA Board of Directors is made up of representatives from each of the CPhA Organizational Members, plus six individual skills-based representatives.
What this means to PAS members
CPhA no longer has individual pharmacist members; the only members of CPhA are the provincial and national associations themselves. However, as a member of PAS, you are able to take advantage of many new benefits through your membership.

National Advocacy
This new partnership gives our profession an opportunity to speak with one strong, national voice when negotiating or representing the profession with:
- Provincial government
- Federal government
- Pharmacy partners
- Private payers & PBMs
- Other health associations
- Manufacturers
The greatest benefit of this new model for pharmacists and our association is advocacy for the profession: a strong national and united voice able to respond to national issues such as decisions regarding health care provision, drug pricing reforms being made by Canada’s Premiers and Health Ministers and stronger collaboration with other national provider groups and stakeholders.
