The relationship of healthcare provider wellness, workplace environment and culture to patient wellbeing, care and safety is a crucial component of healthcare systems. This session will discuss normal emotional experiences of healthcare workers during a pandemic, identify available resources if we need to reach out for help, and provide practical strategies to enhance our ability to cope during this time. Dr. Anita Chakravarti M.D. (USask ‘82) and F.R.C.P.(UofA Anesthesiology ‘87) has been a member of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Department of Anesthesiology, and a professor at the College of Medicine, UofS, for over 30 years during which time she has provided clinical services, teaching and administration in Anesthesiology, Intensive Care, Pain and Integrative Medicine.
She has recently focused on wellness initiatives, including mindful and compassion practices for healthcare providers and has presented to local, national and international audiences. Currently Dr. Chakravarti is Wellness Lead at the College of Medicine, Continuing Medical Education and collaborates with USask Wellness Programming. Dr. Chakravarti is certified with Mindful Practice ® New York and CEO of [M]Power Mindful Professional Practice. She is married, mother of two married children, loves to travel and practice yoga.
