Pharmacy Appreciation Month 2026

2026 Pharmacy Appreciation Month

The Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan      Branch of the Canadian Society of Healthcare-Systems Pharmacy are celebrating Pharmacy Appreciation Month in March 2026.

The month celebrates the work of pharmacy professionals across the province.

Did you know that in Saskatchewan, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work in:

  • community pharmacies,
  • hospitals,
  • health care centres,
  • cancer clinics,
  • outpatient clinics,
  • academic institutions,
  • professional organizations,
  • pharmaceutical industry,
  • and more.

Pharmacy professionals can:

  • Advise – Pharmacists can assess symptoms, answer questions, provide information on medications and help you decide what comes next. They can also offer education on medication safety and disease management. Whether in the community or in hospitals, they work with your healthcare team to ensure medications are safe, effective, and in your best interest.
  • Prescribe – Pharmacists can prescribe for various minor ailments and conditions, including acne, allergies, bladder infections, cold sores, shingles, minor skin infections, hemorrhoids, erectile dysfunction, tobacco cessation and birth control.

They can also provide prescriptions for events as forgetting your prescription if you’re out of town, or if you’re unable to see your doctor right away. And some pharmacists can make therapeutic substitutions (replacing existing prescriptions with equivalent ones).

  • Prevent – Pharmacy professionals play an essential role in keeping you healthy and preventing complications. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians support safe medication use and help identify potential issues early. Both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can provide vaccines, helping to protect individuals and communities from preventable illnesses.

Pharmacists can also help manage certain chronic conditions and treat minor ailments to prevent complications. In addition, they can provide tobacco cessation counseling and assess for strep throat and ear infections (some locations) to stop further spread.

Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are trained and trusted health care providers. They are available in communities across the province and are among the most accessible health care providers in the province.

Visit your local pharmacy for your health care needs.
